A soft bulky floss with a firm nylon threader attached.
- Stretchy floss has the ability to ‘grab’ onto plaque.
- Normally the floss is thick, but it stretches flat to get through small gaps.
- Firm nylon threader is easy to insert, resists buckling and resists moisture.
- Particularly good for bridges.
A special note from Dr Erskine-Smith
- Do not use around implants where the abutment/fixture interface is slightly subgingival but within reach of the floss as fine fibres may break off and become snagged at the abutment/fixture interface and create plaque retentive fibres subgingivally.
- This applies to all floss, but it may be that the strongest floss with a least propensity to this problem is Gorilla Floss (as reported by my dental hygienist).
